Dear Friends, The LIFE AND ART newsletter for Oct 2021 is dedicated to the joy of accomplishment. A year ago in April 2020, just as the Covid Pandemic was beginning to change our lives forever, I realized I was being given the opportunity to work on a project I had been considering for several years. As the calendar emptied and the phone stopped ringing and there was no coming or going in and out of the house, I decided it was time. The book project, Portraits, Poems and Prayers was launched. It took on a life of its own over the next year. One of the accomplishments that came from this time was a series of charcoal portraits of my six grand daughters. I learned a lot about lighting, posing the model, and patience as I took photographs of the girls and worked on each portrait to capture the beauty and personality of the child. Here is a composite of the drawings. The girls are Palmer, Tate, Penelope, Sophia, Reid and Grace. They are in birth order and sisters are composed beside each other. What a labor of love this turned out to be and one I will always cherish remembering the time spent with the girls and the dedication it took to capture their beauty and personalities. Rita
