Works of Love

Works of Love are Works of Peace, is the title of one of my favorite books written about Mother Teresa. In this time of conflict between Russia and the Ukraine, I find myself looking more and more to the thoughts and writings of Mother Teresa as a way to pray for peace.

Sometimes when drawing I will place the words beside the drawing paper to keep my thoughts focused. Do the words come before the art or does the art come before the words? It works both ways and I am never sure which will be the greater inspiration.

In the case of this drawing of Mother Teresa I pondered the words while trying to convey the emotion of peace in her eyes. In the end when I have done my best, I think of her words, “I am just a little pencil in His hand, that is all.”
